Texas shooting: US Air Force 'failed' to flag gunman's criminal history

The US Air Force has said it is investigating its apparent failure to enter information about Texas gunman Devin Patrick Kelley's criminal history into the national database.
Ex-airman Kelley was court-martialled for domestic violence in 2012, and was barred from owning or buying guns.
But last year he was able to purchase a rifle he used in Sunday's attack on a small church outside San Antonio.
He killed 26 people and fled the scene. He was later found dead in his car.
Police said he died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being chased by armed bystanders.
Kelley was also shot in his leg and torso by a citizen, the regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Freeman Martin, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
In a statement, the Air Force said: "Initial information indicates that [Devin] Kelley's domestic violence offense was not entered into the National Criminal Information Center database by the Holloman Air Force Base Office of Special Investigations."

It said it was now - together with the Department of Defense - investigating the handling of Kelley's criminal records.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott earlier said Kelley, 26, should not legally have been allowed to own a firearm, after having been denied a gun owner's permit by the state.

The audience: The audience is probably all of the americans, especially the ones who lived on Texas, since it is a recent event that happened on their territory and affected many innocent citizens, leaving their families devastated.

Author’s point of view:  The author shows an impartial point of view. Focused on informing the audience of what is going on in the U.S even though we can see it gives us mainly the people's point of view and not the killer’s point of view, this we suppose it is because it is much more harder to be able to tell the story from his point of view specially because que killed himself and it wouldn't be professional to jump into conclusions and assume things instead of informing just the facts.

The publisher’s point of view: It is against the killer because it is an American Newspaper but still it doesn’t give false information or exaggerates the situation, they simply state the facts in order to inform and give their impartial point of view but still giving a very guilty image to the killer.

The article is directed or targeted to the people who live in Texas, this is an informative of something that happened and the people in Texas will be aware of this and more careful on where they go or what they do.

The Objective of this article is to inform the citizens of Texas that this incident happened, they do this so that they are aware that these things could happen so that they can be prepared if something else happens, also for the police to know what to do.

Opinion: We think that the shooting situations are getting out of control all around the world. This incident is horrible and is affecting many people, including their friends and family. This is in some way a wake up call, that we need to take more seriously. We are very concerned of the shootings that have happened throughout this year, and we think it is just sad. We need to appreciate our loved ones and be aware of the situations that are happening.
